How to Watch Benfica vs. Rangers: Stream Europa League Live, TV Channel

Philippe Clement will look to continue his remarkable run as Rangers boss when his side visits Benfica in the Europa League on Thursday.

A clash for the soccer purists will see Benfica and Rangers collide on Thursday in what promises to be a Europa League last-16 encounter for the ages based on previous meetings between these teams. It was back in 2020 during the group phase of this tournament that two of Europe’s once-hallowed outfits collided for the first time, producing 10 goals and two draws across their home-and-away encounters. Neutrals can only hope for similar sparks as the pair reunite at Lisbon’s Estadio da Luz on Thursday, where the Scottish Premiership leader will travel to face the Primeira Liga title contenders well in the race for multiple pieces of silverware this season.

Philippe Clement has succeeded in making Rangers competitive on multiple fronts once more since arriving at the club in October but will need every trick in his book to best Benfica.

The Eagles appear the more talented group on paper and dropped into Europe’s second-tier competition after being ousted from the Champions League at the first hurdle.

Rangers, meanwhile, pipped its way to first in Group C after beating both Real Betis and Sparta Prague to the honor, with form taking a noticeable turn for the better following Clement’s appointment.

The Gers were disappointed to not win at the Estadio da Luz in their last visit more than three years ago, where they drew 3-3 despite at one point leading by two goals.

It’s fair to say Benfica walked away the more content on that occasion considering Argentinian center-back Nicolas Otamendi was sent off after only 19 minutes.

Both teams are coming into this clash on the back of defeats, with Benfica missing its chance to go top in the Primeira Liga following a 5-0 pummelling at Porto on Sunday.

And Rangers missed a chances to stretch its two-point Premiership lead over Celtic following a 2-1 defeat at Motherwell, bring an end to the club’s streak of 10 straight wins.

Regional restrictions may apply.
